6th Anniversary of the Sri Narayani Temple
The sixth anniversary of the Sri Narayani Temple was celebrated on January 24th, 2007. During the morning of the celebrations, the temple priests set up 10 kalasams (Dasa Kalasa Stapanam) each of which represented a deity and a Sahasra Nama Yagam (1000 names of Devi) was performed for about 3 hours. After the Yagam the devotees gathered at the Shanthi Mandapam to witness the Mangala Narayani Puja performed by Amma.
At 3.30pm Beloved Amma was welcomed into the Sri Narayani Temple with the Nadaswaram, Kalasams and Vedic chants. Amma then performed the Abhishekam on Narayani using 31 auspicious items (e.g. kum kum, turmeric, sandalwood, etc.). After the Abhishekam, Sri Narayani was adorned with a new, green sari, sparkling jewels and fragrant flower garlands and was ready to bless the devotees in all Her glory and majestic form.
Devotees witnessed all the arathis and then were allowed to go into the inner shrine to offer their salutations and receive the prasadam. The cool climate and the sanctified, charged atmosphere made the celebrations even more worthwhile and enjoyable.
Narayani Seva (Food Distribution) was done for the whole day to satisfy the devotees hunger and their thirst for Divinity was quenched by the theertam received from Amma at the end of the day.
