The Sri Narayani Peedam celebrated Environment Day on Tuesday December 30th, 2008 with a program that consisted of three parts. The first was a Cycle Rally in the morning, the second was a Clean Up Campaign and the third part was the presentation of Appreciation certificates.

Environment Day started off with a Cycle Rally where the cyclists carried slogans on pollution and recycling.

Next was the Clean Up Campaign where each Department did a thorough cleaning of their immediate and the surrounding areas.

In the evening Beloved Amma presented certificates of appreciation to all housekeeping staff from all of the Peedam Institutions. The guests of Honour at this function were the SP of Vellore, Mr. Philip Refson and Mr. Stan Altman from New York, USA.

Three important people were honoured that day:

1. Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram for being instrumental in Exnora development which works on the basic premise that community participation at all levels is essential to transform any city's environment and extending it to contribute in keeping Vellore City clean.

2. Mr. Vijayan for taking and developing SAGAR (Sakthi Amma Greenery & Afforestation Revolution).

3. Mr. Sarvanan for the beautiful landscape of Sripuram.
