Amma's Full Moon (Pournami) Message - 12.12.2008
"Om Sarva Mangala Mangalye,
Shive Sarvatha Shaadhike,
Sharanye Triambake Gowri,
Narayani Namostute"
Everyone seeks happiness. Does everyone find it? Everyone has some problem or the other. Lord Shiva and Parvathi in Kailasham were discussing why people in the world are not happy. Lord Shiva said, "It will be like that". Parvathi (Sakthi) said, "You can rectify it if you want". The argument continued and finally Sakthi said, "I shall go into the Boolakam (world) and sort it out".
She came into the world and noticed people were thinking and wishing for different things. The one who was walking was thinking of a bicycle and She granted his wish. The other who was thinking of owning a scooter, got it. The next person was thinking of a car and he got it. Another who was thinking of owning a bungalow, got it and so on.
Parvathi was wondering why Lord Shiva did not do this earlier to make people happy, so She went back to Kailasham and told Lord Shiva that She has made so many people happy. Lord Shiva said, "Let us see who is happy". To Parvathi's surprise everyone was already thinking and wishing for things again. She thought there must be something missing, so She went to the world again and gave people double of what they were wishing for.
When She was half way back to Kailasham, She looked back and noticed everyone were back to their original state of mind in spite of receiving double what they wanted. So She rushed back to Kailasham and asked Lord Shiva himself, "Why is everyone still unhappy?" So both of them came back into the world and found out that the person with cycle wanted a scooter, the one with scooter wanted a car, the one with a car wanted a latest model and the one who had everything was fearful of losing all that he had.
A man in a hut relaxing and sitting cross legged saw a man in a car and thought when will I have a car like him, and the man in the car seeing the one in the hut relaxing wondered when will he be able to relax like that. The moral of this story is that happiness comes in being satisfied and contented with what you have. You can work towards your goals but at the same time do not worry about the results. Leave it to God. Pray to Amma and be contented and happy with the results of your prayers. Only then you will get true happiness.
On this auspicious day Amma blesses that all the living beings in the Universe be happy, healthy and graceful.
