Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that causes the deterioration of the eyesight, over a period of time. In the early stages of the disease, there may be no symptoms. Generally people affected by glaucoma do not know they have it, unless they have had regular eye examinations.
There is no known cure for glaucoma however; early detection is the key to stopping the progress of the disease. Hence, a glaucoma clinic was inaugurated at the Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre on May 26th, 2007 with the divine blessings of Sri Narayani Amma. The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp followed by cutting of the ribbon to officially open the clinic. Speeches were given by the esteemed guests and Dr. Sathiyaraj Nesan, the hospital Ophthalmologist.
