Indian Republic Day Celebrations

Sri Narayani Vidyalaya School

Indian Republic Day is a national holiday and it is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country especially in New Delhi, the capital of India. With this same enthusiasm, Republic Day is also celebrated annually at the Sri Narayani Vidyalaya School.

This year was no different for the Principal, teachers and students of this school.
On January 26th, 2007, the day's event started at around 10:00am with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by a devotee from Canada. The students opened the function with the singing Indian National Anthem followed by the hoisting of the Indian National Flag.
Various speeches were given by the students of the school in three different languages (i.e. English- the medium of learning at this school, Tamil - the local language and Hindi - the national language of India). A heart rendering song was sung by students of the school. Following this the Band and March past was done in ceremonial style to commemorate Indian freedom.
Speeches were given by devotees from Toronto Canada, Regina Canada and Australia. There was a song by a group of Australian devotees accompanied a devotee from Calgary Canada.
The Principal gave the closing speech emphasizing that everyone should be proud of their Indian ancestors who fought for the freedom of India.
