Lamp Lighting Ceremony

On Wednesday 28th February, 2007, the first group of B.Sc. Nursing students participated in the Lamp Lighting Ceremony in tribute to the Nursing and Medical profession. Our Beloved Sakthi Amma presided over the function with Mrs. G. Josephine R. Little Flower, Registrar of the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council being the guest of honour.

After lighting the lamps, the students took an oath in the memory of Florence Nightingale to strive to personify her when they become qualified nurses.
The Registrar of the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council explained the meaning and the necessity of the lamp lighting ceremony talked about Florence Nightingale’s dedication in serving the wounded soldiers.
This was followed by a stimulating discourse by Sri Sakthi Amma who highlighted the nobility of the medical profession and advised the aspiring nurses to be kind and considerate towards the suffering patients. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Bindu Sheela and Mr.T. Mani Balan.
