Sri Narayani Proclamation Day - 16th Anniversary
Thursday, May 8th 2008 was a beautiful but hot summer day. 10,008 pots were filled with turmeric water for devotees to sprinkle on the Swayambhu Amman in the Swayambhu Temple in celebration of this auspicious day. The crowds gathered at Sri Narayani Vidyalaya School early in the morning awaiting the arrival of Sri Narayani Amma.
After the first pujas of the day, at around 7:00am Beloved Amma arrived at the school and lit the lamp to commence the celebrations. The first activity was the pada puja which was performed by Vattama patti, the loving Peedam grandmother.
After the pada puja Amma performed the Kalsa puja and placed the Swarna Kalasam on Jothi Amma’s head.
The procession began from the school to the Peedam with Vaishnavi and Karpagam leading the way. There were the Chenda Melam from Kerala and the Peedam Nadaswaram followed by the priests chanting the Vedas. The next group was led by Beloved Amma and the Swarna Kalasam was carried by Amma’s amma.
On reaching the Swayambhu Temple, Beloved Amma performed the first abhishekam on the Swayambhu followed by Smt. Jothi Amma; after which all the devotees performed the abhishekam one after the other.
By 8:00pm the celebrations came to close with Beloved Amma performing the last abhishekam, decorating the Swayambhu and doing the arathis. All the devotees who participated received a delicious meal and prasadam bags to take home.
