SAMMM: SAKTHI AMMA MAGALIR MEMPATTU MAIYYAM

(Sakthi Amma Magalir Mempattu Maiyyam) empowers women in difficult family circumstances with the opportunity of stable employment. Most of the women in this program are the sole breadwinners in their families. The initiative started with six women in 2007 and now employs over 50 women. They learn to make organic pooja products such as the preparation of turmeric powder, rose water, Panchetailam (five types of oils), cleaning powder, and production of kumkum, all presented in handmade eco-friendly packing material as well as the sewing of traditional Indian clothing. The program supports women by inspiring dedication and confidence, thus fostering their self-esteem.

This initiative has created sustainable development and enhanced the quality of their lives in the rural areas surrounding Thirumalaikodi.
