
Sri Narayani Hospital - Medical Camps
During the month of February, 2008 the Community Health Department of the Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre conducted many Medical Camps as part of their Outreach Program.
This month they conducted camps for Diabetes, Orthopaedic, School Health, Polio Vaccination, Paediatric, General Medicine and Ante Natal Care Home Visits.
Diabetes Camp
A Diabetes Camp was held on the 13th, February, 2008 in Anaikut. Dr. Dr. Sudhakar examined over 150 patients for diabetes. All the patients were treated, given free medicines and were advised on the importance of taking their medicines regularly and adopting and maintaining healthy food habits.
Orthopaedic Camp
The Orthopaedic Camp was held on the 22nd of February, 2008 at the Hospital. Dr. Korulamani Jacob examined over 100 patients ages 40 and over for orthopaedic problems. All the patients were treated and given free medicines as required.
School Health Camp
The School Health Camp was held on the 25th, February, 2008 at the Sri Krishnaswamy Higher Secondary School, Sainathapuram. Dr. Anand and Dr. Anuradha gave dental and general health care check-ups to over 300 students. They were all treated and given free medicines. Those that required hospital care were advised and referred.
Polio Vaccination Camps
Polio Vaccination Camps were held on the 10th, 11th, & 12th, of February, 2008 at the Sri Narayani Hospital, the Sripuram & the Sri Narayani Vidyalaya School in Malaikodi. Dr. T. Kannaki, R.M.O. headed the Camp. This camp was initiated as a preventive measure and in co-ordination with the state of Tamil Nadu to administer polio vaccines to children in 3 phases. Over 1,970 children received polio vaccines which is the highest number to be given out at once in the whole of Tamil Nadu state.
Paediatric Camps
The Paediatric Camps were held on the 15th, 19th, and 23rd, of February 2008 at Ariyur A.G. Nagar Narayanpuram, Samadh Nagar. Dr. Simi, Dr. Kannaki and Dr. Raju examined over 320 children for common paediatric problems like cold and cough, asthma, vomiting diarrhoea, loss of weight and appetite, skin diseases, heart diseases and diseases due to malnutrition. They treated all the children and gave out free medicines as required. Toothbrushes and chocolates were also distributed to the children.
General Medicine Camp
A General Medicine Camp was held on the 13th, of February, 2008 at the Government High School in Anaicut. Dr. Padma examined over 100 patients who live in unhygienic conditions and are prone to health hazards. All the patients were treated and given free medicines.
Ante Natal Care Camps
Ante Natal Care Camps were held on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th of February, 2008 in Pulimedu to Vallandiramam, Ariyur kuppam to G.R. Palayam, Udayar Palayam to Sagadevan Patti Mulagate to Eripudhur. A team of nurses examined over 115 pregnant women for problems like intra uterus growth retardation, low lying placenta, hydromnios and any uterus diseases. They also provided injections and iron tablets for those that are anaemic and advised those who needed to be hospitalized.
