Thai (Tai) Pongal-Sripuram

Thai (Tai) Pongal is a three-day harvest festival mainly in the Tamil community of South India.

It starts at the beginning of the month Tai (This is normally around the 14 th of January) as per the Tamil Solar Calendar and is dedicated to Lord Surya (sun god).

The three days of Pongal are called Bhogi Pongal, Surya Pongal and Maattu Pongal. The festival is named after the traditional “Pongal” (Boiling of rice in milk and raw sugar)
