World T.B. Day Celebrations

The Vellore District Tuberculosis Control Society and the Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre jointly celebrated World T.B. Day on Friday March 2nd 2007 in the Conference Hall of the hospital.

Mr. N. Balaji, Director of the hospital presided over the function and Dr. C. Varadhan, Medical Superintendent welcomed the gathering. The Vellore District T.B. Control Officer and the President of the Ariyur Panchayat also participated in the function. The Director honoured the guests and addressed the audience.

In his speech the Mr. Balaji described out how the hospital serves as a Microscopy Centre for examining, diagnosing and treating T.B. patients according to the guide lines of the Government (RNTCP) and that this service is free of charge for all of the patients. The District T.B. Control Officer explained how they work in collaboration with private health institutions and the advantages of this joint venture towards T.B. Control through the Microscopy Centres.

The President of Ariyur Panchayat praised Sri Sakthi Amma with whose blessings the remote village of Thirumalaikodi and all the surrounding villages reap the enormous benefits of such a huge hospital and the hospital's Outreach programs and Medical camps.
A member of staff from T.B. Department of C.M.C. Hospital in Vellore also participated in the function and talked about rendering free service to T.B. patients. Prizes were distributed to the students of Sri Narayani Vidyalaya who excelled in an Essay writing competition on T.B. Dr. Surendra Babu, the General Superintendent gave the vote of thanks and the function came to a close with the presentation of mementos to the guests by the Hospital Director.
